Wembley dream ends for Latics

Latics' dream of reaching Wembley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is over.

They were beaten 6-5 on penalties in the Northern Area Semi-Final after the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Both teams scored four of their five penalties - Danny Philliskirk missed for Latics and Ollie Banks for Chesterfield - to send the shootout into sudden death.

There were an additional four penalties with Anton Rodgers seeing his effort saved by Tommy Lee before Gary McSheffrey slotted home the winner for the Spireites.
