Latics face Stags replay

Latics endured a frustrating afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Mansfield Town in the second round of the FA Cup with Budweiser.

Korey Smith gave Latics the lead, but Sam Clucas scored his 11th goal of the campaign to draw the Stags level and earn a replay.

Latics, who finished the opening half 1-1, could have fallen behind early in the second half when John Dempster headed narrowly over from an Adam Murray corner.

Manager Lee Johnson made a double substitution just short of the hour mark to try and find that missing spark.

Wide men James Dayton and Sidney Schmeltz made way for Jonson Clarke-Harris (pictured) and Michael Petrasso.

Adam Rooney had a good chance, but could only direct his header straight to keeper Alan Marriott from a Danny Philliskirk left-wing cross.

Anton Rodgers then fired a 30-yard free kick just wide of the upright.

Philliskirk fashioned an opening for himself only to shoot narrowly wide from outside the box.

Clarke-Harris made a terrific solo run before unleashing a low shot from 25 yards which tested the reactions of keeper Marriott.

And Clarke-Harris tested Marriott again in stoppage time with a fiercely-struck shot from the left of the box.

There was one last chance in the fourth minute of added time when Petrasso fired over from 20 yards after a poor punched clearance by Marriott following a Jonathan Grounds free kick.

Full-time: Latics 1, Mansfield Town 1
