Latics lose in semi-finalLatics under-18's lost 3-1 to Rochdale this afternoon in the semi finals of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup.
It was a disappointing afternoon at Chapel Road for Latics with coach Mick Priest saying all three goals conceded were avoidable in what he described as a scrappy match.
Latics fell behind midway through the opening period but Carlton McIntosh's equaliser was perfectly timed one minute before the break.
Dale sealed victory with two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second period, the latter being a penalty.
Latics had no more than two second-year scholars on the pitch at any time and had three schoolboys involved with at least two on the pitch for the whole match.
Jack Poxon was named player of the match following a terrific display in midfield.
"Given the youth of our side, it was pleasing the way our players stuck at it against a more experienced Dale team," said Priest.
