Scoring against Everton was extra special - Obita

Jordan Obita was delighted his first goal for Latics helped earn a fifth-round replay at Everton in the FA Cup with Budweiser.

The teenager, who is on a one-month loan from Premier League club Reading, believed Latics were unfortunate not to claim another top-flight scalp.

Obita, whose goal gave Latics an early lead, said: "We had some great chances. I hit the post after I scored and we had other ones as well. I thought we were unlucky.

"Everton are a good team, but we more than matched them and I feel we should have beaten them."

Obita was full of praise for the team spirit displayed by Latics saying they never gave up.

"We always believed we would score when we were 2-1 down, and we did," he said.

Obita described the game as the biggest of his fledgling career and the best players he has opposed.

And as to opening his goalscoring account in his third appearance for the club, Obita continued: "It was great to get my first goal for Latics and for it to be against Everton made it even better.

"Every goal is amazing, but this one was extra special."

Obita is looking forward to returning to Goodison Park.

"I have played there before, but only in a reserve-team match for Reading so the next one will be far different," he concluded.
