Obita joy for Latics before Anichebe equalises for Everton

The Toffees had to wait until the 12thminute before creating their first chance when a free kick from Leighton Baines deflected off the defensive wall flying just wide of the upright.
There were joyous celebrations moments later when Latics took the lead.

Latics almost regained the lead within 60 seconds when Obita’s shot from the left of the box took a deflection before hitting the inside of the far upright and being scrambled to safety.
Everton had another opening late in the half when a header from Marouane Fellaini, following a Phil Neville cross, looped onto the roof of the net.
