Bouzanis on Latics' controversial late equaliser
Goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis was Latics' secret attacking weapon in their 2-2 draw against Everton in the fifth round of the FA Cup with Budweiser.Bouzanis went upfield deep into injury time for two corners, the second of which brought about the 95th minute equaliser from substitute Matt Smith.
There were complaints from Everton that Bouzanis fouled Phil Jagielka.
Bouzanis said: "I am a bit of a nuisance around the training ground and I thought I would be a nuisance in the Everton box.
"I did my best to try and block Matt Smith's runner which is why I put my hands up to try and distract the people behind me.
"I didn't touch the ball and it was great to see Matt there to nod it in."
Though Everton protested aboutl Jagielka being blocked by Bouzanis, the Aussie keeper maintained he did nothing wrong.
Bouzanis said: "I didn't handle the ball and simply ran into the runner.
"It happens every week in the box when you get players pushing and shoving. Everton can complain about it, but I didn't do anything wrong."
Bouzanis added Latics' cup run is one of the highlights of his career.
He said: "It has been fantastic and gets you into the limelight. It is an amazing feeling.
"And when you look at the strength of the Everton side, it just shows how good a team we are.
"The league form has been up and down, but the cup run has shown how good the players are individually and as a team.
"Hopefully we can take the cup form into the league and climb up the league before we go to Goodison Park where anything can happen."
Bouzanis has played at Goodison Park for Liverpool reserves and been a spectator at several first-team matches.
"Getting the chance to play there is a first-team match will be amazing," he concluded.
