It's all about us

22 February 2013

Philliskirk's philosophy

"It's all about us," is the philosophy which is working well for Latics under the stewardship of Tony Philliskirk.

Caretaker Manager Philliskirk was been explaining his approach since taking temporary charge at Boundary Park.

He said: "We have no scouts, match reports and DVD's of the opposition and I am majoring on what we do.

"It is my opinion, and also Paul Gerrard, that it is all about us and not them.

"We will put in a plan into practice to try and win the game and to enforce ourselves on them.

"If we do that, we believe we will get positive results."

Philliskirk and Gerrard believe that if the players maintain the mentality of recent weeks they should have no trouble amassing 50 points which ought to ensure another season in League One.

Gerrard said: "We must not get carried away with recent results and think we simply have to turn up to win a game.

"We have to make sure the players keep level headed and approach every game as we have done the ones in recent weeks then I am sure we will be alright."

Gerrard added Latics still have to play most of the teams in and around them so their destiny is in their own hands.

"It is a great opportunity to put a little run together and get out of trouble," he said.
