Latics cocktail of goals against Shrimps
Jordan Bove and Carlton McIntosh scored twice apiece as Latics under-18's defeated Morecambe 5-0 at Chapel Road in the Football League Youth Alliance's North West Conference.Manager Mick Priest described it as a "pleasing performance" adding with better decision making and aggression in the final third of the pitch they could easily have hit double figures.
He was especially satisfied that three of the goals came from set pieces, each of which were delivered by Joe Edwards.
McIntosh slotted home the opening goal after 15 minutes and that was quickly followed by a near-post header from Jack Poxon following a corner.
The final three goals of the game came in the last 20 minutes.
Bove (pictured) made it 3-0 with a back-post header from a corner, McIntosh added a fourth with a scruffy finish and Bove completed the scoring with a second back-post header from a corner.
