Schoolboys to feature in cup semi-final
Latics will field a youthful under-18 side in this afternoon's Lancashire FA Youth Cup semi final against Rochdale at Chapel Road, kick off 1pm.The prospect of a number of youngsters facing three games in five days is the reason behind the decision.
The under-18's also played Rochdale in a league fixture on Saturday and a number of the players will also be in reserve-team action at Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday night.
Coach Mick Priest says that circumstances dictate that players are rested today when the youth team will mainly comprise under-17 first-year scholars as well as a sprinkling of schoolboys who can play because it is half term.
