Murray manages reserves

20 February 2013

Paul also has playing role

Paul Murray becomes player/manager for Latics' reserves in tonight's Central League match against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, kick off 7pm.

As the backroom staff is short on numbers, the 36-year-old Murray has been asked to take charge of the team.

Murray (pictured) is very much the elder statesman as none of the other 14 players on duty are older than 20 years.

Indeed, one of the substitutes is Ryan Ellison who is a schoolboy and under-16 player.

Centre-back Glenn Belezika plays his first match since fracturing his ankle, an injury which required surgery.

Team: Jacob, Jones, Edwards, Cooper, Belezika, Mellor, Sutherland, Murray, Taylor, Millar, Wandless. Subs: Poxon, L Simpson, McIntosh, Ellison.
