Obita set to stay

28 February 2013

Jordan's loan extension?

Jordan Obita is hoping to extend his loan at Latics for a second month.

The winger (pictured in action against Everton) has revealed that parent-club Reading are prepared to allow him to remain at Boundary Park.

Obita, whose initial month ends after Saturday's home npower League One game against Sheffield United, is happy to stay.

He said: "I have spoken to Reading and it looks like they will extend my loan.

"I am playing games, enjoying my football and hopefully I will be staying."

Obita has enjoyed his short stay which has included playing in both FA Cup with Budweiser ties against Everton.

He said: "It was fantastic to score against Everton and to play in both of those games.

"The boys did everyone proud with our performances in both games."

Obita would like to remain to help Latics pull away from the danger zone in npower League One.

He explained: "I think we are in a false position the way the team has been playing.

"You would think we were chasing a play-off place rather than battling relegation.

"Hopefully we will pick up enough points to finish mid table."

Obita has also cleared up the mystery of his golf goal celebration against Everton.

"My agent got me into playing golf and he told me to do the celebration," he said.
