Team of the Week

Oldham Rangers visit Boundary Park

Oldham Athletic Community Trust welcome Oldham Rangers under-nine's to Boundary Park as their 'Team of the Week' for today’s npower League One match against MK Dons.

After a successful recruitment drive, more players joined the team ready for the start of the new season in the North Bury Junior Football League.

In the summer of 2012, Mark Baker took up the challenge of managing the team but when his assistant Michael Dawson and himself found they were left with hardly any players, they wondered what it was they had taken on.

The current team has changed dramatically from when it was formed in the 2010/2011 season.

The nomination for 'Team of the Week' came from the 100-per-cent belief and determination the lads have shown in not giving up. Mark and Michael would like to thank all the boys for the way they train and play with a smile on their faces and enjoy their football every week.

After a difficult start to the new season, Mark and Michael kept faith in the boys and after their first win of the season – some six games in – the hard work and commitment paid off.

"I am keen to develop strong relationships between the Community Trust and local grassroots clubs through days like this."

Martin Vose, Oldham Athletic Community Trust Participation Officer, commented: "I'm delighted to welcome Oldham Rangers to Boundary Park as guests of the Community Trust. I hope everybody connected with the team have a fantastic time with us and enjoy the experience.
