Latics behind to Sampson strike
Latics' reserves found themselves 1-0 down at half time to a Jack Sampson strike in their Manchester Senior Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers at Leyland.Striker Sampson broke the deadlock midway through the opening half when he turned neatly on to a Chris Lester pass and scored with a fiercely struck low shot.
Latics found themselves on the back foot for most of the opening period, their only chance coming early on when Connor Hughes shot wide.
Wanderers had a number of chances to increase their lead as Sampson, Lester and Sanmi Odelusi forced decent saves from Liam Jacob while Stuart Holden and Tom Eaves twice also had goal attempts.
