Ladies lose heavily

7 January 2013

Team short of players

Oldham Athletic Ladies endured another tough day as they suffered a 17-0 defeat against title-chasing AFC Oldham.

Latics' squad was depleted by suspension, injury and illness leaving them with only eight players. Bravely they opted to play rather than forfeit the game.

Positive points from the game were the fact Latics did not give up and there was industry in midfield, especially the work rate of Shelby Newton and the performance of goalkeeper Dominique Marshall who prevented it being a heavier defeat.

The scorers for AFC Oldham were: Tracey Blanchard 6, Lisa Wood 4, Sam Miller 3, Shirley Boulton 2, Leigh Carnall and Rachael McHugh.

Latics are away to Uppermill on Sunday in a game featuring opponents who are just above them in the table.

The match takes place at Chew Brook, Greenfield, 1pm kick off.
