New Community Trust initiative
Oldham Athletic Community Trust and national learning disability charity Mencap are joining forces to help combat unemployment for people with disabilities in Oldham and other parts of Greater Manchester.
Mencap delivers specialist intervention to support those with learning difficulties in to sustainable employment.
Adam Green, North West Service Manager for Mencap, said: "The reason we have established this partnership with Latics is because Oldham has recently lost a major employer of disabled people.
"This has left a lot of people who require specialist support finding new employment. We have fantastic relationships with employers, not only in Oldham, but across the region, and we believe that we can provide a stepping stone for disabled people to find employment."
Martin Vose, Oldham Athletic Community Participation Officer, added: "It's fantastic to team up with Mencap. We are looking forward to supporting the fantastic work that they do within the borough of Oldham."
Latics and Mencap are currently in the process of planning a number of events which will be posted on the Oldham Athletic Community Trust facebook and twitter pages.
However, prior to these being finalised, if you, or someone you know in Oldham or surrounding areas is disabled, unemployed and looking for work, please call 0161 838 5626 for further information and to register your interest.
