M'Changama injury blow

28 January 2013

Smith, Simpson also hurt against Liverpool

The only dampener to Latics' FA Cup with Budweiser, fourth-round victory against Liverpool was a serious injury sustained by Youssouf M'Changama.

Latics' midfield man damaged his left knee after being fouled by Raheem Sterling who was booked for the late challenge.

The moment of impact is captured by club photographer Alan Howarth.

The early signs are that M'Changama has sustained significant damage to the medial ligament in his knee.

M'Changama is to have a scan which will reveal the extent of the damage.

Two-goal hero Matt Smith is to have an x-ray on the shoulder he hurt and which brought about his late substitution.

Depending on the results of the x-ray, he may also have a scan on the joint.

Robbie Simpson felt a twinge with his hamstring and the injury will be monitored.
