New signing on his loan move to Latics

New goalkeeper Mark Oxley is viewing his season-long loan to Latics as an important stepping stone towards hopefully playing in the Premier League for newly-promoted Hull City.

The 22-year-old, who is looking at the bigger picture, explained: "My main aim is to play well for Oldham this season and then come back and look to push for a first team place here.

"I wouldn’t have signed a new two-year deal with Hull City if I didn’t see myself aiming for a place in the first team."

Oxley has managed only one first-team appearance during almost five years at Hull City, has gained further experience during brief loan spells at Grimsby Town and Burton Albion.

He continued: "Hopefully this is another step in the right direction for me. I’m at the age where I want to be out playing first team football rather than playing in the reserve leagues.

"It’s all about getting that game time under my belt and that is something I’m looking forward to.

"I enjoyed my time at Burton last season even though I got injured, and this time I’m going into League One which is a step up."
