12 July 2013

Anton agrees one-year deal

Anton Rodgers has become Latics' latest summer signing.

The 20-year-old midfield man has agreed a one-year contract.

Latics also have an option to extend the deal for a further 12 months.

Rodgers, the son of Liverpool manager Brendan, kicked off his career at Chelsea where he was between the ages of 13 and 18 years.

He has spent the last two years as a professional at Brighton where he made his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Wrexham.

Rodgers last season had a loan spell at Exeter City for whom he played two matches in League Two.

Released by Brighton this summer, Rodgers joined Latics initially on trial and impressed in the friendly against Dinamo Bucharest.
