Sidney stars at Army campSidney Schmeltz was Latics' top squadie during the three-day trip to the Army's Altcar Training Camp.
The Dutchman (pictured) achieved the best results during a number of physical activities.
Manager Lee Johnson explained the trip exceeded expectations in terms of what the players achieved in terms of fitness and team bonding.
He said: "A number of leaders emerged, and some of them unlikely ones.
"It was also nice to see the way some of the young players stepped up."
The players were back training on home territory today and they will also report tomorrow for another session.
They will have a day off on Sunday and be back in for Monday's pre-season friendly at Curzon Ashton.
