Weakened side to play Grimsby
Latics under-18's will have a weakened side for tomorrow's youth-team friendly against Grimsby Town at Chapel Road, kick off noon.Paul Tyson, Ryan Ellison, Callum Etches and Jordache Walters are ruled out through injury and Will Kinder due to illness.
A scan has revealed goalkeeper Tyson has a grade two tear of his thigh muscle so he will be out for some time.
Academy Manager Tony Philliskirk is left with only 16 players, and they include two goalkeepers, one of whom is schoolboy Chris Renshaw.
The youth team reported back to Boundary Park today following their four-day training camp at Lilleshall.
Philliskirk described it as a worthwhile exercise as he put on three training sessions each day while it was also good for team bonding.
He added the players worked extremely hard and were also impeccably behaved.
