Cup-tie special for Johnson

Manager tackles former club

Latics' draw against Derby County in the first round of the Capital One Cup has special resonance for Lee Johnson.

Manager Johnson (pictured) had a loan spell with the Rams in January/February 2010.

And he says he remains friends with Nigel Clough, his No 2 Gary Crosby and captain Richard Keogh.

Johnson, who made seven appearances for Derby, said: "It was a special draw as I played for them for a short time.

"Nigel Clough and Gary Crosby are good guys and Richard Keogh is also a good friend."

Analysing the fixture, Johnson continued: "I am pleased. It is a good draw as we are at home to Derby who are a massive club.

"It will be good to play against a team of that quality and stature and it will be interesting to see how we do against them."
