Manager happy with options in the middle
Lee Johnson is happy with the way Latics' midfield is taking shape for the new League One campaign.Latics' manager says he has plenty of competition for places in the middle of the park.
And with three of his four signings made so far midfield players, it will be a new-look department.
Johnson has signed wide players James Dayton and Sidney Schmeltz along with central player Korey Smith.
Latics' manager ought to have James Wesolowski (pictured), Korey Smith, David Mellor, Carl Winchester and Danny Gossett vying for places in the centre of midfield.
And out wide, Dayton, Schmeltz, Cristian Montano, Kirk Millar and teenager Chris Sutherland battling for the two wide places.
Johnson said: "Midfield is a key area and I am happy with the way it is taking shape.
"We are lucky to have some good players in the centre while out wide there are ones who are dangerous going forward."
