First-half report

16 March 2013

Latics behind to Pitman goal

Latics trailed to a Brett Pitman goal in their npower League One match against AFC Bournemouth at Boundary Park.

Pitman's strike separated the two teams after a largely forgettable opening period.

After a tentative start, Latics created the first clear-cut chance in the 13th minute.

Chris Iwelumo headed straight at keeper Ryan Allsop following a right-wing cross from Connor Brown (pictured).

Latics fell behind midway through the half as Bournemouth mounted their first meaningful attack.

The ball was played down the left and former Latics' loanee Lewis Grabban cut the ball back from the byline for Pitman to apply a simple tap in from inside the six-yard box.

Neither side was able to create another chance in the remainder of the opening period which was scrappy and disjointed.

Half-time: Latics 0, Bournemouth 1.
