Latics' marathon man

31 March 2013

Broady's charity fundraiser

Latics Sales and Marketing Executive David Broadbent will next month be running (he concedes this may be an exaggeration) the Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity of both the club and The Football League.

"The support I’ve received so far has been brilliant, the squad and staff have had many words of encouragement and I can’t wait until it’s over.”

"If any Latics' fans can spare a couple of quid then I’d be massively grateful. The charity is very close to the club’s heart with both Barry Owen and Alan Hardy suffering with the disease in recent times.

"It’s going to be horrible and I’ve already requested a couple of new knees for the finishing line. I’ve been training for a few weeks and I need to raise £2,000 for a hugely worthwhile charity.

Speaking about his impending challenge Broady, as he is better known, said: “I’ve always wanted to do the marathon, despite the obvious fitness issues!
