Safety was major concernLatics' npower League One match at Shrewsbury Town today was called off on the grounds of safety.
The referee made an early decision after between four and six inches of snow fell overnight.
And with today's forecast for further snow in the Shrewsbury area, he decided to postpone the match.
Shrewsbury's website reported: "The referee has made an early assessment of the conditions and has deemed that, with the forecast for more snow and atrocious road conditions in the surrounding area, the game has to be called off.
"The weather overnight saw heavy snow fall over most parts of Shropshire and the decision had to be taken with the safety of the supporters and players in mind."
Latics' fans, who purchased a ticket in advance for today's game, are reminded to keep it as it can be used for the rearranged fixture, the date for which will be announced in due course.
