Failsworth West Lions
Failsworth West Junior Football Club's under-seven Lions are Oldham Athletic Community Trust's 'Team of the Week' at this afternoon's npower League One match against AFC Bournemouth.They are a FA Charter Standard club and have three teams in the under-seven age group - Tigers, Lions and Panthers.
The Lions, who are coached by Ian Barker, were formed in July 2012 and are members of the Manchester Youth and Mini Soccer League and play their home games at Failsworth Soccer Centre.
The players here today are: Luke Hesford, Jack Clarke, Louis Bessell, Paul Lomas, Lewis Hulme, Leo Barker, Mason Chubsey, Jake Abell and Liam Docherty.
The Lions are enjoying a successful first season having lost only twice and are unbeaten since October 2012.
The success of the Tigers and Lions has led to the club recently forming a third team the Panthers which will compete next season in the same league as the Panthers and Lions.
The club's philosophy is that football for children aged six and seven years should be about enjoyment and playing for the love of the game.
