30 May 2013

First pro contracts for Cooper, Sutherland

Chris Sutherland and Joe Cooper have signed their first professional contracts with Latics.

The teenagers were among four trainees to be rewarded at the end of their two-year scholarships.

Winger Sutherland, a former pupil at Crompton House School, made 10 first-team appearances (one start and nine off the bench) during the 2012/13 season.

And defender Cooper, from Springhead and an ex-pupil at Saddleworth School, made his debut in the end-of-season npower League One match at Shrewsbury Town where he made the starting line up at right back.

Sutherland (pictured far left) and Cooper (far right) are pictured with Danny Gosset and Luke Simpson, the two other trainees offered pro contracts.
