Bove back for cup tie

Youngsters play Clarets

Top scorer Jordan Bove is back for Latics under-18's who this afternoon play at Burnley in the quarter finals of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup.

Bove, who has scored 14 goals in 12 youth-team matches, missed Saturday's goalless draw at Shrewsbury Town in the Football League Youth Alliance's North West Conference after he was called into the first-team squad for the FA Cup tie against Wolves.

The 17-year-old (pictured) is back to lead the line today at Burnley's Gawthorpe Training Ground, kick off 2pm.

Latics know they are in for a tough match as Burnley beat them 3-0 in the league at Chapel Road back in August.

Academy Manager Tony Philliskirk says today's match starts a big month as they also play last year's league champions Wrexham, Hull City in the Youth Alliance Cup and Walsall who beat them 4-0 in September.

"It will be a tough month and a good test for us to see where we are and how we are developing and progressing," he explained.
