Winger hurt in win at Shrewsbury
Latics face an anxious wait to see the extent of an injury sustained by James Dayton in last night's win at Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League 1.The winger (pictured) came off midway through the second half with an ankle knock.
Manager Lee Johnson explained that Dayton received a whack to the side of his ankle.
"We are hoping it is not serious, but we will have to wait the see. We don't want to lose James because he has been flying in recent weeks," he explained.
Latics were without Cristian Montano, Connor Brown, Kirk Millar and Edijs Joksts last night who were all injured while Genseric Kusunga began a three-match ban.
Johnson added that the hectic schedule is impacting on his squad with injuries.
He says Latics were vindicated in calling off the Milton Keynes Dons match saying that would have been one match too many for his stretched squad as subsequent events have proved.
