Academy match reports

Latics' Academy sides recorded three wins from their four matches at Shrewsbury Town.

While the home games for the under-nine, 11, 13 and 15 sides were postponed through waterlogged pitches at Radclyffe School and the Lancaster Club, the away fixtures for the under-10, 12, 14 and 16 teams went ahead.

The under-12's were 8-0 victors with Robert Watson bagging a hat trick.

Alex Panter scored twice and Jack Worrall also found the net while there were also two own goals as Latics played well in windy conditions.

Mwiya Malumo also scored three times as the under-14's triumphed 6-2

Joe Nuttall scored twice while Keyon Chikanya also found the net as Latics passed the ball well and also kept possession well.

The under-10's played two five-versus-fives games and won every period of every match.

"It was an afternoon of outstanding individual and team performances," explained manager Martin Vose.

The lone defeat was suffered by the under-16's who lost 4-2 having been 2-0 ahead at half time.

Goals from Charlie Halls and Jack Tinning gave Latics a perfect start, but they lost their way and complacent conceding four second-half goals.

"In the first half we were very good and in the second very bad as we lost rhythm and became complacent conceding four goals," explained manager Chris Rowney.
