Latics appoint Ground Safety Consultant
The appointment has been made following the resignation of John Cooke as the club's Ground Safety Officer.
He is a former Stadium Safety Manager at Blackburn Rovers and until recently was chair of the Football Safety Officers Association.
Mr Newsham has over 25 years experience in spectator safety and stadium management.
Latics have appointed John Newsham as the club's Ground Safety Consultant.
Latics' Chief Executive Neil Joy said: "It has been difficult to find an acceptable solution to the issue of Safety Officer following John Cooke’s resignation.
"I feel we are now in a much stronger position than previously in regard to our obligations in the area of spectator and stadium safety and that going forward we will have an excellent and robust safety team in place, both to ensure our regulatory compliance and the safety of spectators at Boundary Park."
