Latics injury problems mount

13 November 2013

Wesolowski, Rooney new concerns

James Wesolowski and Adam Rooney have added to Latics' mounting injury worries.

Both players were ruled out of last night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Northern Area Quarter Final win against Notts County.

Midfield man Wesolowski (pictured) has a hamstring strain which has yet to be assessed to discover the severity.

Rooney, manager Lee Johnson revealed, took a painful whack to the top of his foot in training on Monday.

Though Rooney was named as a substitute last night, but injury is a worry and Latics' manager says he is to have an x-ray as the fear is that he may have chipped a bone.

David Mellor was also an absentee last night through sickness.

Latics already have Charlie MacDonald and Matteo Lanzoni on the injured list while Carl Winchester, Kirk Millar and Edijs Joksts are away on international duty which has further depleted the squad.

Connor Brown and Joseph Mills, meanwhile, were given their first match action last night following their returns after injury lay offs.
