First Ashton Gate visit for seven years

Latics today pay their first visit to Bristol City for over seven years.

Though Latics have been to the city in more recent times, it has been to the blue half to the Memorial Ground to play Rovers.

City's relegation to Sky Bet League 1 last April means Latics renew acquaintances.

The West Country club has had a difficult time and last Saturday's 4-2 win at Carlisle United was their first victory of the season.

Indeed, it was their first win in 22 attempts, a sequence stretching back to early March.

City have this week signed two players on loan from Championship clubs - midfield man Simon Gillett (Nottingham Forest) and defender Karleigh Osborne (Millwall)

They still have a squad rich in talent as it contains players of the calibre of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Nicky Shorey, Scott Wagstaff, Sam Baldock and Marlon Harewood.
