Manager thrilled by loan capture

Lee Johnson is excited by new Latics' loan capture Mike Petrasso.

Latics' manager believes the 18-year-old Queens Park Rangers' winger (pictured) could be an important signing, even though it is only for an initial month.

Petrasso, a Canadian under-20 international, has scored six goals in his last nine games for QPR under-21 Elite Development Squad.

Johnson said: "I know a lot about Mike and he is a dynamic player who gets at defenders.

"In the last four or five weeks he has hit top form and we are very grateful to QPR for allowing him to join us.

"I am hoping he can make an impression and does well for us."

Johnson had been monitoring Petrasso's progress as he is friends with QPR under-21 coach Marc Bircham who, ironically, is also a former Canadian international.

Petrasso has done so well that last month he was invited to train with the full Canada side in London where they were preparing for an international against Australia at Fulham's Craven Cottage.
