Coventry banish blues

Coventry City, who Latics still have to play twice, are the team of the moment in Sky Bet League 1 and are now 11/2 for a return to the Championship after extending their unbeaten run to seven games.

The Sky Blues’ 3-0 win over Notts County at their adopted Sixfields home in Northampton saw them climb to eleventh, just three points adrift of the play-off places.

It was their fifth win in their last seven and has seen their price for promotion slashed from 12/1 since their last defeat, against Brentford on September 29th. They were a 40/1 shot for promotion at the start of the season following their ten-point deduction for entering administration.

Besides leaders Orient, Steven Pressley’s men boast the best scoring record in the league led by the prolific front duo of Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson. Both were on the mark against County to each take their tally to 11.

Wilson is now 6/1 to finish the season as Division One’s top scorer from 33/1 at the end of August while journeyman Clarke is now third favourite at 8/1 from 12/1.

Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths is on nine goals for the campaign and is into 3/1 favourite for top scorer despite not being on the mark in their 2-0 win over Stevenage.

Kenny Jackett’s  side are now 4/5 for the title from 10/11 while Orient, who saw off fellow pacesetters Peterborough 3-1 at London Road, are into 7/2 from 11/2, with Posh drifting from 9/4 to 7/2.

Orient striker David Mooney is locked on 11 goals – alongside Clarke and Wilson - after notching a double in Saturday’s win and is now 10/1 from 16/1 for top league scorer.
