Tarkowski back for Latics

1 November 2013

Defender to start at City

James Tarkowski returns to Latics' squad for tomorrow's Sky Bet League 1 match at Bristol City.

The 20-year-old central defender (pictured) missed the midweek match at Notts County through a one-match ban having collected five bookings.

Manager Lee Johnson, who won't name his side until 2pm tomorrow, has already confirmed Tarkowski will start the game at Ashton Gate.

Tarkowski replaces scholar Tomos Clarke who was called into the squad for the County gave to provide defensive cover.

Joseph Mills has also been named in the squad, though his prospects of recovering from a hamstring strain are described by Johnson as 50/50.

A scan has revealed no tear, but inflammation of the hamstring.

Squad: Oxley, Grounds, Wesolowski, Kusunga, Tarkowski, Schmeltz, Smith, Rooney, Montano, Mellor, Clarke-Harris, Winchester, Rodgers, Dayton, Millar, Mills, Joksts, Philliskirk, Sutherland, Rachubka.

* Bristol City yesterday completed two loan signings - midfield man Simon Gillett from Nottingham Forest and Millwall defender Karleigh Osborne. Both are named in the City squad for tomorrow's match.
