Northern Ireland under-21's victorious
Latics' Carl Winchester and Kirk Millar last night helped Northern Ireland post their first victory in group nine of their UEFA under-21 Championship qualifying campaign.Northern Ireland, who had lost their first five qualifiers, finally got off the mark with a 1-0 win against Cyprus in Lurgan.
Winchester (pictured) played the whole match while Millar was substituted midway through the second period.
Northern Ireland, who won through a Christofides own goal after 85 minutes, remain bottom of group nine.
Team-mate Edijs Joksts, meanwhile, was a loser as Latvia under-21's were beaten 3-1 in Croatia.
Joksts played 83 minutes of the game as group leaders Croatia extended their lead at the top to six points.
