Youth-team victory

Friendly win against Chester

Latics under-18's came from behind to beat Chester City in a friendly at Chapel Road.

Goals from John Pritchard and Emile Tansinda (pictured) secured victory for Latics in an entertaining game.

Latics dominated the goalless opening half, but the final ball or final cross let them down.

They continued in the second half only to get caught on the break as Chester took the lead through a scrambled goal.

Latics' youngsters showed character as they equalised within three minutes.

Danny Byrnes connected at the far post with a right-wing cross and looked certain to score.

He sliced his shot across the face of goal for Pritchard to tap in from a couple of yards.

Latics went ahead midway through the half when Will Kinder crossed from the left and Tansinda's shot squirmed under the Chester keeper.

And in the last quarter of the game, Latics had chances to win by a wider margin, but were unable to find the net again.
