New role for Philliskirk

Striker Danny Philliskirk was handed a new midfield role by Latics in today's Sky Bet League 1 match against Carlisle United at Boundary Park.

Phillirkirk was moved wide right to allow Adam Rooney to be paired with recalled Charlie MacDonald up front.

Manager Lee Johnson made two changes from the side which kicked off at Preston North End in thee Johnstone's Paint Trophy in their last game 11 days ago.

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley (pictured) and MacDonald replaced Paul Rachubka and Sidney Schmeltz from the game at Deepdale.

Carlisle handed a debut to former Tottenham and QPR defender Pascal Chimbonda.

Latics (4-4-2): Oxley; Kasunga, Tarkowski, Grounds, Mills; Philliskirk, Wesolowski, Smith, Dayton; MacDonald, Rooney. Subs: Schmeltz, Montano, Clarke-Harris, Winchester, Rodgers, Millar, Rachubka.
