Baptism of fire for new-boy
Lee Johnson admitted new-signing Genseric Kusunga had a baptism of fire on his debut for Latics in last Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 match at Rotherham United.Latics' manager says it was a culture shock for the central defender who is pictured.
He explained: "It was probably totally different to any game he had played in his life.
"Genseric went from being at the top club in Switzerland (FC Basel), where he would be given time on the ball and plays football, to an avalanche of long balls coming down his neck along with a big striker.
"That was a welcome to League One and, speaking to him after the game, the tempo and speed of the game was a shock to him.
"It is going to take time for him to adjust, but you saw that he has the attributes to be a good player for us and it was a good start for him."
