Non League Day

5 September 2013

Support grassroots football

With international games bringing about the postponement of Premier League and Championship matches this weekend, Saturday has been designated as Non League Day.

As Latics don't have a game on Saturday - the Preston game has been switched to Monday to be televised live - why not attend a non-league game and support grassroots football?

Non-League Day, the campaign to promote semi-professional and grass roots football,  returns for a fourth consecutive season on Saturday.

The newly launched website features a wealth of information on this year’s campaign, including a handy match finder
 http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html

Campaign Manager Mike Bayly said: “Whether you’re a Premier League or Championship fan without a game, a League One or League Two supporter who can’t make an away trip, or just someone who is curious about what their local club has to offer, there is sure to be something to interest everyone."

Local non-league games in the area on Saturday include:

Curzon Ashton v Bamber Bridge

Ashton United v Trafford

FC United of Manchester v Rushall Olympic

Abbey Hey v Congleton Town

Hyde v Cambridge United

Salford City v Padiham

Ramsbottom United v Northwich Victoria

Stalybridge Celtic v Solihull Moors

Non League Day is growing each year with various events and includes BBC Radio 5Live, Kick It Out, Sky Soccer AM helping promote the word.
