Manager Lee Johnson is delighted to add Jonathan Forte to his ranks ahead of the new season, which kicks off on August 9.The attacker, who signed a 12-month contract with Latics today, becomes Johnson's eighth summer signing but the manager has warned supporters to be patient with the player.
He said: "We've got to get him going because he's had a year where he's not really been playing through no fault of his own.
"He's come in and shown a really good attitude so I'm delighted to have him on board. He gives us that real power and pace which he's got in the locker."
Forte can operate in a number of positions and the manager has no worries in testing him in different formations.
"I see him playing in several positions and that's a good thing about our squad. We have a lot of players capable of playing in different positions which is a positive" the gaffer commented.
"He's got a good leap and he's got good pedigree so that can only be a positive fot the football club."
With the league campaign just over a week away, Johnson has huge confidence in his side and believes they can kick on from last season's good finish.
He said: "We've got some good players in the team and we've got to show faith in them. We finished the season ten games unbeaten so hopefully, with the players we have recruited, we can continue that going into the new season."
