Young Latics beat Rovers
The young Latics earned a hard fought win against Tranmere Rovers in difficult conditions at Chapel Road on Saturday morning thanks to a good start. Kyle Hardman and Jack Tuohy grabbing goals in the first half, substitute Michael Brewster with a late second half strike to finish the scoring.
A good start from Tony Philliskirk's side saw them take control with Hardman opening the scoring on 12 minutes. The striker side-footing home after good work from Jordan Bove on the edge of area.
On 20 minutes the lead was doubled, Tuohy with an excellent volley from a Danny Byrnes cross.
The visitors created a couple of half chances but the half time whistle came with Latics still two goals to the good.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, Latics were able to keep Rovers at a distance, Philliskirk taking the opportunity to introduce Devante Jacob and Brewster for Jordache Walters and Ben Grant.
With the visitors pressing for the goal that would give them a foothold, Will Kinder replaced Tuohy.
Brewster then made the game safe as the full time whistle approached with a neat finish.
