Oxley Previews MK Dons

25 February 2014

Latics loanee goalkeeper, Mark Oxley, put in an impressive display at the weekend and is hoping to take that form into the coming games.

The goalkeeper, on loan from Hull City, earned rave reviews from his manager and fellow teammates at the weekend and the stopper believes three points was vital.

He said: "It was a good performance all round. It was more important that we got three points on Saturday because we needed it after the week before and it was a massive relief when the final whistle came. I've learned a lot this season with playing first team football and you just can't switch off in this division."

With Bobby Mimms departing the club last week, the goalkeeper thanked his mentor for the help he provided him with.

"Bobby's experience has been vital this season. He's helped me through a lot of games and guided me in the right direction so he will be missed. It's a good opportunity over there for him though so good luck to him," admitted Oxley, before adding: "Ant has come in now. He's not as experienced but we've had a decent week.

"Rachubka is an also experienced keeper. He's someone who has loads of experience and while Bob's gone, he'll be there to keep an arm around me and make sure I'm doing the right thing."

With the loss to MK Dons 10 days ago still fresh in the mind, the goalkeeper is hoping to exact revenge on their League One opponents on Tuesday night.

"It was a disappointing day all round. We had a sending off and everything else happened in the game," explained the 23-year-old. "I thought we actually played well and we deserved something from the game, so hopefully we can put that right on Tuesday night."
