Commercial Manager takes part in London To Amsterdam Cycle Challenge
Latics’ Commercial Manager Jenny Warburton is undertaking the London to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Jenny will be joined by fellow members of the football league who will undertake a two-day cycle challenge which will kick off on Friday 6 June from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium and finish at Ajax Arena on Saturday afternoon.
It is intended to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK which is the official charity partner of the Skybet Football League.
She explained she took part in a similar charity venture last year where she cycled across the Yorkshire Dales with members of Paul Dickov's back-room staff. The 50 mile ride, which was finished off with a tandem skydive In Lancaster, raised over £6,000 for The Christies and Tilinanu orphanage in Malawi!
“I was extremely proud of everyone who undertook the bike ride and sky dive – we raised a great amount for 2 wonderful charities and we had some great laughs along the way. I want to make this Challenge just as successful!”
She now needs to raise £1,200 by the start of May. In addition she is looking for a local cycle shop/manufacturer to offer help with equipment for her trip.
“Since I started at Oldham, 2 of the club’s 4 directors have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer which just goes to show how many people it affects - almost as many men as breast cancer affects women. So teaming up with Prostate Cancer UK and the Football League is a great opportunity to raise some funds and awareness for such a worthy cause.”
