Dutch winger departs
Latics can today confirm that Sidney Schmeltz has joined Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town on loan for the remainder of this season.
Schmeltz (24) has featured 23 times for Lee Johnson’s side this season, scoring his only goal for the club in the 4-1 Johnstones Paint Trophy win at Shrewsbury in September. Sidney last featured for Latics on New Years Day also against Shrewsbury.
Manager Lee Johnson said “Sidney would have found opportunities for regular games hard to come by, so it’s for the best for all parties for him to go to Shrewsbury and play football. We of course wish him all the best for his loan spell.”
