Oldham Metro Rotary Club President John Walkden visited Sports Direct.com Park recently as he presented a donation on behalf of Oldham Metro Rotary Club to Oldham Athletic Community Trust.
The donation will enable the Community Trust to purchase vital new equipment for the coming year which will be used on a variety of different Community Trust projects. Amongst the new equipment being purchased are 40 new futsals, which has seen a huge rise in popularity across Oldham recently.Oldham Athletic Community Trust Participation Manager, Martin Vose, commented: "It's a fantastic gesture from the Oldham Metro Rotary Club to help us purchase the new futsals. As a registered charity we always welcome the support of local businesses, with all money received going straight back into the community."
Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports around the world and is sport that within Oldham is growing rapidly. Futsal is played with a smaller and heavier ball with an emphasis on tricks and skills. OACT'ss futsal sessions focus on individuality, with each child receiving hundreds of touches of a futsal per session. The Community Trust deliver futsal session during curriculum time at local primary schools as well as during their evening time community 8's and community 9's football training programme.
Vose added: "Futsal is one of the most popular sports on offer within our schools programme, next year hundreds of children will be able to enjoy the brand new equipment thanks to the support of the Rotary Club."

The Community Trust would also like to remind everyone that the upcoming season will see the return of the popular J D Williams Matchday Club, which will be ran during every home Saturday league fixture. The club costs £5 per game (which includes a junior) match ticket and runs from 12:30-5:30pm.
The first Matchday club of the 2014/2015 season will be on Saturday, August 16 when Oldham Athletic face Leyton Orient at Sports Direct.com Park.
