Gaffer Reacts To First Day Back

26 June 2014

Manager Lee Johnson welcomed back his players today after a long summer away.

Pre-season training started today for Latics' players with morning tests and a light ball session in the afternoon.

The day allowed the manager a chance to assess his players following their summer's away. New signings Joseph Mills, Mike Jones and Brian Wilson also linked up with their teammates for the first time.

Johnson, speaking to Latics Player, was excited to see the lads again. He said: "It's like your first day back at school. We've got some good characters here and I'm sure the personalities of the new guys will integrate very quickly.

"I have missed everyone as much as you get frustrated and torn throughout the season. To get back into the routine and the banter has been really nice."

The gaffer continued by explaining what the day entailed. "It's the first day back so we started off with a bit of testing at Bolton University just to make sure all the muscles were in sync and we'll find out if anything needs addressing," commented Johnson.

"We've got two days of easing back into it. We will get the fibres moving and the ankle joints all rolling. We want to get every acquinted, set out some house rules and set our stall out to what we are trying to achieve this season."

The full interview with the manager will be available in due course.
