Latics boss Lee Johnson is delighted to draw Championship side Middlesbrough in the first round of the Capital One Cup.
Boro ended last season positively with six wins in their final eight games while Latics remained unbeaten in their final ten.
The gaffer believes Boro will be a tough test for his side but is looking forward to the tie.
He said: "It's a good game against quality Championship opposition. I'm looking forward to meeting Boro's manager as I have heard many good things about him.
"It will be a clash that will be a big test for our players but one they should look forward to."
The tie is set to take place week beginning Monday, August 11.
