Mills: "I Knew This Was The Right Place For Me"

5 June 2014

New signing Joseph Mills believes Oldham Athletic can pose a serious threat to the division next season after signing a two year contract with the club yesterday.

The 24-year-old, who joins from Premier League side Burnley, will link up with his teammates at the end of the month as pre-season is set to start.

Left-back Mills cannot wait to get started. "I'm really looking forward to getting back into pre-season now and getting things underway," he admitted.

"I know the majority of the dressing room which always helps because it takes a while to bed into a team but I'm looking forward to getting back and seeing some familiar faces and then the hard work begins."

Speaking about how the move came about, he revealed his earlier loan spell impacted his decision to join the club.

"The move came about heavily from my loan period at the start of the season. I really enjoyed it and spoke to the manager after the end of the season and with Burnley getting promoted, I saw my chances there quite limited.

"I wanted to get out and start playing again so as soon as I heard the interest was here from Oldham, I knew this was the right place for me," continued Mills.

"The gaffer and I have spoken briefly about his plans for next season and what he expects from me. I'm really relishing the opportunity to come and play here and looking forward to it."
